The Investment Associate is responsible for supporting deal sourcing, due diligence, and portfolio management efforts. This junior-level position is ideal for individuals looking to grow their careers in venture capital and gain hands-on experience in evaluating startups.
Role Details
Reports to Venture Operations Director (matrix relationship with Investment Directors for capacity allocation)
1. Deal Sourcing & Market Research:
Responsibilities
• Assist in identifying potential investment opportunities by monitoring market trends, startup ecosystems, and competitor activity
2. Due Diligence & Financial Analysis:
• Conduct research and analysis on potential investments, including financial modeling, market sizing, competitive landscape, and product evaluations according to investment process
guidelines
• Assist in preparing supporting documents (incl. investment memorandum), including key findings and recommendations
3. Deal Execution Support:
• Coordinate with legal, support, and external parties during the investment process
• Track investment opportunities and help manage the closing process, ensuring all necessary documents are prepared and accurate
4. Portfolio Monitoring:
• Track and report on portfolio company performance, identifying key metrics and growth trends
• Assist with portfolio company strategy development, operational support, and follow-up on performance
5. Administrative Support:
• Provide administrative support in organizing meetings, managing communications, and maintaining deal flow systems
What we are looking for in you
• 1-3 years of experience in venture capital, private equity, investment banking, management consulting, or a related field.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and financial analysis
• Experience with technical due diligence considered as a plus, but not required
• Passion for FinTech and innovation
• High attention to detail and ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
• Understanding of financial databases (e.g., PitchBook, MAGNiTT) and relevant investment management software (e.g., Affinity)
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills
• Excellent spoken and written English
• Bachelor's degree in business, finance, economics, or a related field
• Willingness to learn and grow within the venture capital field
