The Investment Director is responsible for leading the investments of its geography, managing relationships with key stakeholders, and overseeing portfolio management. This senior leadership position is focused on sourcing, negotiating, and executing investments in high-growth companies, as well as guiding junior team members in their professional development
Role Details
Reports to Chief of Ventures
1. Investment Leadership:
• Lead a team of investors, setting performance standards, and making critical decisions on investments proposals (e.g., go/no-go to Investment Committee)
• Build and maintain relationships with entrepreneurs, co-investors, and industry leaders
• Establish strong ties with portfolio companies and assist in scaling, governance, and long-term value creation
2. Deal Sourcing & Execution:
• Drive deal sourcing efforts by leveraging his/her existing networks and attending industry events, ensuring access to top-tier deals
• Negotiate terms, lead due diligence processes, and structure investments for optimal financial and strategic alignment
• Lead investments from initial deal sourcing through closing, actively participating in key discussions
3. Portfolio Management & Mentorship:
• Oversee and provide strategic guidance to portfolio companies, ensuring they have the resources to achieve growth and scale
• Work closely with other executives in portfolio companies on business strategy, product development, sales, and fundraising efforts
• Mentor junior team members, guiding their growth and career development within the firm
4. Thought Leadership & Relationship Management:
• Represent the firm at conferences, seminars, and media, positioning the firm as a leader in venture capital
• Share insights and trends on emerging markets, investment strategies, and entrepreneurial best practices
What we are looking for in you
• 5-7+ years of experience in venture capital, private equity, or investment banking, with a proven track record of successful investments
• Strong network of entrepreneurs, investors, and other key stakeholders in relevant ecosystems
• Previous leadership experience managing investment teams
• Deep understanding of financial modeling, term sheets, and exit strategies
• Previous exposure to FinTech industry
• Understanding of financial databases (e.g., PitchBook, MAGNiTT) and relevant investment management software (e.g., Affinity)
• Strong negotiation, communication, and presentation skills
• Excellent spoken and written English
• Advanced degree (MBA or equivalent) is preferred
